The new Gretsch G5622T Electromatic ® Center Block Double-Cut with Bigsby® in a Georgia Green metallic finish, sporting Super Hilo’Tron™ pickups features a chambered spruce center block for dynamic resonance, high gain power and lightweight comfort.

As part of the Electromatic line, the Gretsch G5622T Electromatic is built in Korea by Samick, with great results.  The build quality, fit and finish and fretwork are all top notch.  The body construction is Maple laminate, with a Maple center block, paired with a Maple neck carrying a bound Rosewood fingerboard with Mother of Pearl Neo-Classic thumbnail position markers. Typical of center-block guitars, F-holes are cut into the top.   The top, back, F-holes, fingerboard and headstock are all bound, which rounds out the appearance nicely.  The G5622T is available in several finishes, including this metallic Georgia Green.

Black, Walnut, and Vintage Orange are also offered.

The guitar is very comfortable, and the scale length is just slightly shorter than a typical Gibson, making chording easy.  The Bigsby is a dual-roller model, set back far enough from the bridge to have sufficient but not excessive breakover at the tune-o-matic bridge.  That means that the arm movement is smooth, and with the moderate maintenance all trem systems require tuning stability won’t be an issue.    Traditional open gear tuners are installed at the headstock.

For electronics, the dual Super Hilo’Tron™ humbucking pickups used on the Gretsch G5622T Electromatic deliver bold, dynamic and articulate tone with enhanced sonic punch. Installed with the single switch, tone pot circuit Gretsch uses on most of its single coil guitars.   There’s a selector switch, master volume, individual pickup volumes, and a tone pot.    The original Hilo’Tron™ pickups were single coils, and the Super models are voiced towards that sound, with lots of Gretsch jangle but without the hum sensitivity.

A simple tweak that can be easily performed on Bigsby arms, no matter whether they are US made or licensed, is to file or grind and polish a round into the lower edge of the arm.  This makes the arm much more comfortable to the touch.

This model is sold without case.
