It’s unusual enough to run across the Gretsch White Falcon, but to see one with 1950’s style Trestle bracing AND Left Handed is another thing entirely!

Originally created as a showpiece for the annual winter 1955 NAMM music trade show in Anaheim, California, the Gretsch White Falcon received an unexpected level of interest – and orders. It had to be immediately put into production, and has been at least symbolically at the top of the Gretsch line since.

Like most production guitars, the Gretsch White Falcon has had a number of variations depending on prevailing market trends. This G6136TLH model reproduces a late 1950’s 17 inch wide, 3 inch deep single cutaway, trestle braced, Bigsby and Space Control Bridge equipped version. This style uses the tone-switch circuit, providing three basic settings from one of the toggle switches. It dates to November 2005 and was built in Japan at the Terada plant, like most other Gretsch pro-line models. Currently, this version is in the ‘Player’s Edition’ form, with a pinned bridge base, locking tuners, and a string-through Bigsby.

The White Falcon is a fully hollow arch top guitar, with the body built of maple laminates for feedback resistance. The neck is maple with an ebony fingerboard sporting mother of pearl ‘neo-classic’ thumbnail position markers. And of course, since it’s a White Falcon, its gloss white finish is offset by gold sparkle binding everywhere!

This example is in good condition with light wear, but with some tarnish on the metal parts as is common. The original Gretsch hard shell case is included.
