The Hofner Violin Bass Vintage ’61, seen here in its Left Handed form reflects the evolution of the classic bass now mostly known as the ‘Beatle Bass’.
Quite rare, the Hofner Violin Bass Vintage ’61 features a solid carved Spruce top, with Flame maple sides and flat back. The neck is Maple with a Beech insert. The fingerboard is Indian Rosewood with a 30 inch scale and zero fret for consistent tone and action. The bridge is Ebony with fret-wire segment inserts as saddles. The headstock overlay is a clear plexi-type plastic, with the Hofner logo screened on the underside, followed by a black finish. The logo will never wear off!
The electronics start with a pair of ‘Diamond logo’ pickups in the neck and middle positions, leading to the standard control plate with two ‘Teacup’ controls for volume and tone, and three sliding two-position switches. These turn the individual pickups on and off, while the Rhythm/Solo switch cuts volume and treble slightly in the ‘Rhythm’ position.
The finish has a ‘Vintage Relic’ treatment, representing natural play wear and aging effects.
This Hofner Violin Bass Vintage ’61 Left Handed bass is new and comes with the original tweed hard shell case and all its contents, including the Certificate of Authenticity signed by Thomas Stuhlein, who is also responsible for the final setup and quality control.
