Kolya Panhuyzen Professional Classical Guitar, 1980

Brand:

Instrument Categories: ,

Kolya Panhuyzen has been building professional grade classical guitars for over 40 years, at first in Canada with his uncle Edward Monch, and now in southern Germany.

This Kolya Panhuyzen Professional Classical Guitar built during 1980 at the Panhuyzen shop in Toronto, Canada. Constructed in the traditional Spanish manner with a true ‘slipper’ heel tying the sides into the block, this guitar features a Sitka Spruce top, Mahogany for the neck, Ebony for the fingerboard, and Indian Rosewood for the sides, back, headplate and bridge. The nut and saddle are bone, and the nickel-plated tuning machines are by Reischel, made in Munich, Germany.   The bridge is a standard six-hole design, and has not been converted to 12-hole.

This example is in overall good condition. The lacquer finish is thin, as is appropriate for a quality classical, and is naturally sinking into the grain of the Rosewood. The top has a number of small marks from fingernails and string changes.

The original Japanese-made hard shell case is included.

The Twelfth Fret President’s take on the Kolya Panhuyzen professional classical guitar:

“Koyla Panhuyzen builds incredible guitars – huge, robust bass with very nicely balanced trebles. On this guitar the current action is standard at 8/64 treble-8.5/64 bass with very little scope at the saddle to go lower, though most players would prefer the action exactly where I have set it.

This is a thoroughly playable, professional-grade, concert-level guitar that will perform beautifully for at least another century!” ~ Grant MacNeill
