The Larrivee OM09 is based on the classic Orchestra Model guitars that first appeared in the opening days of the 1930’s as banjo players migrated to guitar but found they needed access to more frets. These models provide a well-balanced tonal representation throughout the harmonic range with plenty of volume, making them ideal for fingerstyles or strumming.

Here we’re looking at a Larrivee OM09 built during 2001 at the Larrivee shop in Oxnard, California. It’s in overall good condition with a few small dents on the top edge of the headstock, and a lacquer crack along the center seam below the bridge. A strap pin was removed from the bass side just by the heel, and the hole is unfilled. Finish wear is otherwise normal for a guitar of this age that’s been used as intended. Fret wear is light to moderate, particularly in the lower positions. This guitar has had its inevitable neck reset, the work done by Bruce Dowd in Toronto.  It plays well, with a rich, full tone.

The original arched top, hard shell case is included.

Here is the builder on the series the Larrivée OM09 :

“The 09 Rosewood Artist Series: An industry leader in its class, the 09 Artist Series is one of the longest standing models in our catalog.
The 09 is the genesis of Jean’s ‘recipe’, reached perfection with the first L09 originally built in the ’70s. 40 years later, not much has changed. A perfect combination of East Indian Rosewood back and sides, Sitka spruce top, and powered by Jean’s legendary X-Brace system. The 09 Series delivers a powerful, yet balanced, dynamic range. For custom wood options, please see our custom pricing list.
Whether in the studio or live, flat-picking or strumming, this true American workhorse offers all the response and the tone you will need. Standard features include JCL 18:1 tuners, flamed maple trim, and abalone rosette. “
