Built by Leo Fender’s CLF Research for Music Man from 1978 to 1982, the Music Man Sabre 1 featured an Ash body with 12″ radius Maple neck, humbucking pickups and innovative, versatile switching and active controls powered by a 9v battery. It has two features that Leo Fender had introduced just before selling Fender to CBS – the truss rod located at the head, and the three-bolt Micro Tilt adjustment.

MORE →Built from 1968 to 1999, the Guild D-25 came in several colours, and from 1976, with a Sitka Spruce instead of Mahogany top. These reissues began a few years before the 1985 sale of the Fender brand – but not the plant and fixtures – by CBS to a management group. Fender introduced the Telecaster, originally the single pickup Esquire, to the market in its 1950 catalog.
