❌SOLD❌ Patt Lister Classical Guitar Lattice Braced, 1970

Here is a rarity – a Patt Lister Classical Guitar built in Collingwood, Ontario during 1970 and featuring a lattice braced back and concentric fan braced top.

Patt Lister built guitars from the late 1950s until the early 1980s, and for a time Sergei de Jonge worked with him, following his work with Jean Larrivee. Lister was born in the UK but spent much of his childhood in India. Following his return to the UK, he worked in the Aerospace industry, and the geodesic structures of aircraft like the Vickers Wellington influenced his lattice brace guitar designs.

This Patt Lister Classical guitar uses a Red Cedar top paired with Maple for the sides and back, with Spanish Cedar for the neck and Spruce for the tall top and back bracing. The fingerboard is Ebony, while both the bridge and head plate are Indian Rosewood.

The general construction is a mix of traditional and cutting edge concepts – a traditional Spanish style slipper heel couples the neck and body, but the bracing is not at all traditional. The back bracing is a set of repeating X forms. The top bracing combines tall fan struts for the main vibrating area with two sets of concentric braces circling the sound hole. The result is surprisingly loud and the guitar projects very well, with a full rich tone.

This guitar has had some repairs over the years.  There is a repaired top crack on the bass side of the fingerboard tag, running to the rosette.  The finish is worn off the binding where the player’s arm rested and where the guitar rested against the player’s chest.  This guitar has been played in!   Fret wear is moderate, and the guitar plays cleanly and well.

A very good condition Hiscox LiteFlite case is supplied with this Patt Lister Classical guitar.
