Built from 1990 to 2012, the Ramirez Model 4E was the top of the company’s Estudio line line for serious students of classical guitar. In 2013, it was superseded by the 4NE, and more recently by the Studio line.
Here’s a Ramirez Model 4E built during 2001 with the Ramirez shop at General Margallo No. 10 in Madrid, around the block from the Tetuan subway station. A full size guitar at 650mm scale and 52mm nut width, the 4E features a Red Cedar top, Indian Rosewood for the sides, back headplate and bridge, Ebony for the fingerboard, and Spanish Cedar (Cedro) for the neck and body blocks. This model uses a traditional ‘slipper heel’ construction tying the sides into the neck’s heel. Tuners are gold coloured with faux pearl buttons.
This almost 20 year old Ramirez Model 4E is in great condition, with a few small dings through the finish at the lower bass bout where the player’s forearm would rest . The neck, back, and sides are clear. There are also two stress cracks; one at each side of the fretboard which are VERY common on Ramirez; entirely stable and no repair needed as that part of the top is very heavily supported by two heavy cross braces and the fretboard.
Fret wear is light, typical of nylon string guitars. This guitar plays well, and has the warm, full Ramirez tone with lots of volume and projection.
The original hard shell case is included.
