SOLD Taylor 317 Grand Pacific Slope Shoulder Dreadnought

Instrument Categories: , ,

The new Taylor 317 uses one of the newest body shapes from Taylor guitars, the Grand Pacific. It is a round shoulder dreadnought design, paired with Taylor’s new V class bracing system. This marks a new sound for Taylor guitars inspired by classic acoustic guitar sounds and coupled with the sonic improvements of their V class bracing. The tone is warm with powerful clear bass and round full notes that smoothly blend together to create a unified harmonic voice. These guitars can work exceptionally well as accompaniment to a voice.

The very first dreadnought models used the round or ‘slope’ shoulder design were built around 1916 by Martin for the Ditson company; Gibson used it for the classic J-45 model, among others.

The Taylor 317 Grand Pacific model pairs a Sitka spruce top and Sapele sides and back with this new body shape and V class bracing. The dry and focused tone of the mahogany is augmented by the new design changes to create more harmonic complexity, improved power and sustain as well as excellent intonation.

The Taylor 317 Grand Pacific round shoulder dreadnought is equally suited to jamming with other musicians, backing up a singer or doing solo work.

Here’s the builder’s description of the Taylor 317 Grand Pacific:

“The Taylor Pacific 317 Grand Pacific, featuring our new round-shoulder dreadnought body voiced with Taylor’s award-winning V-Class bracing, helps usher in a whole new Taylor sound. Notes blend smoothly together to produce a warm and seasoned acoustic voice with clear low-end power.

Built with solid sapele back and sides and a solid Sitka spruce top, the guitar’s tonal response sits comfortably between the dry, focused character of mahogany and the harmonically complex sound of rosewood. The body’s wider waist helps produce a strong bass response, but without the woofiness that can sometimes plague bigger-body guitars.

That low-end clarity blends evenly with the guitar’s mids and highs, yielding a rich, dynamic tone with notes that overlap into a seamless whole. Our V-Class bracing, tailored for the Grand Pacific body, dials up the power and sustain, along with improved intonation, making this a versatile tool for jamming with other musicians, playing alongside a vocalist, or embarking on solo adventures.

Whatever your musical calling, the Grand Pacific 317 will make an inspiring companion.”
