The Hopf family has been building instruments, motly violins, for the last three centuries; Dieter Hopf himself has been building guitars for over 50 years, somewhat west of Frankfurt, Germany.

This is a Hopf Saturn 63, made around 1963 in Germany.
It has a carved maple back, carved spruce top; the original metal strip covering the join, and a patented EverStraight neck (multiple laminations). This neck technique was also used by Framus.
