Gibson ES-137 Thinline BlueBurst, 2006 / *No Longer Available*

Introduced in Nashville during 2002, the Gibson ES-137 thinline is intended to combine two of Gibson’s most successful designs – the resonance of the thinline archtop ES models, and the solidity of the Les Paul classic. However, this instrument is thicker than a thinline model, and uses mahogany instead of maple for the center block. Bringing together the Florentine cutaway, arch top body with the solid mahogany center block, and using most of the hardware from a Les Paul including the pickups, tune-a-matic bridge and stop tailpiece, the ES-137 thinline is a very versatile guitar.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES-150 Archtop Electric Refinish Sunburst, 1950

The Gibson ES-150 appeared in 1936 as one of the first efforts towards an electric guitar, and became the company’s first successful archtop electric. Previously, Gibson was supplying pickups and amplifiers, but hadn’t offered a guitar with a factory-installed pickup though their competitors were starting to. By 1935, pressure from customers like Montgomery-Ward pushed Gibson into installing pickups on some non-Gibson branded models.

In production from 1953 to 2016 and the successor to the 1949 single pickup ES-175, the Gibson ES-175D was perhaps the best accepted archtop electric. While found in many genres of music, from jazz to early rock and roll, from pop to arena rock, it is most associated with the many jazz guitarists who built careers with it.

❌SOLD❌ Ibanez 2461 Johnny Smith 'Lawsuit Era' Archtop Electric Natural, 1975

Here we have an Ibanez 2461 Johnny Smith style, full body cutaway archtop, built in Japan likely during 1975. The model was built until 1977. Typical of the early 1975 period, it has no serial number – these started appearing on the back of the headstock late 1975. It is largely original, though it has a slight modification – the output jack was a mini-plug mounted on the pickguard, and this was removed and a standard 1/4 inch jack installed to the lower treble side.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Memphis ES-330 59 Reissue Natural, 2015

The Gibson Memphis ES-330 59 Reissue was built from 2009 to 2019, when the Memphis plant closed. This remarkable instrument re-creates the original 1959 version of the ES-330. This design was much better known in its later Epiphone form – the ES-230 Casino used by a number of influential British musicians. This Gibson Memphis ES-330 59 Reissue has a formal model number “ES30VNNH1”. This indicates the 330 style, vintage spec, nickel plating and natural finish.
