❌SOLD❌ Gibson EDS-1275 Doubleneck 6/12 String Cherry, 1990

The Gibson EDS-1275 is the company’s current doubleneck design with six and twelve string necks. This design addresses a number of performance issues, primarily how to avoid switching instruments when a piece calls for both six and twelve string parts. Shown here is a Gibson EDS-1275 doubleneck in cherry finish, built mid 1990 at Nashville, Tennessee. It is in very good, clean and almost entirely original condition with its original rectangular hard shell case.

❌SOLD❌ BC Rich B Double Neck 6/12 Legacy Cherry, 2011

❌SOLD❌ BC Rich B Double Neck 6/12 Legacy Cherry, 2011

This is something you don’t see every day – a BC Rich B Double neck! This example dates to 2011 and is in great original condition.

The BC Rich B Double neck model is based on the 1977 ‘Rich Bich’ design, but expanded to two necks. This uses a neck-through design, with a combination of Mahogany and Nyatoh and perhaps Walnut separating the core from the ‘wings’. The fingerboards are Ebony with the classic ‘cloud’ BC Rich position markers. To retain the compact size of the 12-string headstock, the octave strings feed through ferrules on the back of the head, and the tuners are in the cutaway at the tail block.

❌SOLD❌ Jeff Healey’s Jackson Siamese Doubleneck, Black, 1988

Here is a bit of history – Jeff Healey’s Jackson Siamese Doubleneck, purchased in 1988 while recording the Roadhouse soundtrack and used during many performances and recordings! The Jeff Healey Band consisted of Jeff Healey on guitars, Joe Rockman on bass, and Tom Stephen on drums. The band’s material was heavily influenced by blues-rock styles, and eventually folded as Healey’s interests moved towards jazz. Jeff Healey died of cancer in 2008, aged 41.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson EDS 1275 Doubleneck Guitar Cherry, 1997

❌SOLD❌ Gibson EDS 1275 Doubleneck Guitar Cherry, 1997

This is one of the most recognizable guitars in the world, though it is not common – the Gibson EDS 1275 Doubleneck has become an iconic instrument seen in larger shows. EDS stands for Electric Double Spanish, with Spanish referring to the way the guitar is held – as distinct from Hawaiian or lap models.  Most of the double neck models we see are copies, but this is the real deal! The concept of the double neck guitar may draw from the Harp Guitar, which appeared in the early 19th century, and from the very few double neck guitars from the 17th century. Gibson began producing a few double neck instruments in the late 1950’s, including a semi-hollow, carved spruce topped model with lower 6-string and upper octave necks.

❌SOLD❌ Rickenbacker Electro D12 Doubleneck Steel Guitar Copper, 1953

❌SOLD❌ Rickenbacker Electro D12 Doubleneck Steel Guitar Copper, 1953

The Rickenbacker Electro D12 is a rare model. Many of Rickenbacker’s multineck steels were 8-strings per neck, and the D12 has six; the doubleneck with a total of 12 strings gives it its name. Its better known sibling is the D16, with two necks of eight strings each. From their first production in 1940, the Electro D and T models used a combination of a cast metal body and a Bakelite neck, with Lucite fingerboards.
