National ResoPhonic El Trovador Single Cone Guitar

Designed in collaboration with Mike Dowling, the National ResoPhonic El Trovador is patterned after the famous National guitars produced from 1932-1933. Similar to its venerable predecessor, the new National ResoPhonic El Trovador guitar features a large, 14.5 inch wide, 4 inch deep body built of mahogany. The body is bound in multi-layer celluloid, with a matching purfling border around the coverplate.

❌SOLD❌ National El Trovador Resophonic Guitar with Hot Plate, Mahogany, 2015

The National El Trovador goes back to the 1930’s wood bodied, single cone resophonic guitars by National, and this one comes with a HotPlate installed! The El Trovador uses a Mahogany laminate for the body and solid Mahogany for the neck, with a bound Ebony fingerboard. The peg head is slotted, which increases the pressure of the strings on the nut while reducing the required tip-back angle of the head.

National Resophonic Guitars Baritone El Trovador

National Resophonic Guitars Baritone El Trovador

This is a stock El Trovador resonator guitar, but with an extended 27″ scale length. Strung up with 15-69 gauge strings and set in standard baritone B to B tuning, I couldn’t believe the rich warm boom that came from the guitar with my first strum. The ring and articulation were classic National, but with a deeper drone and even longer sustain than usual (which is saying a lot!).
