❌SOLD❌ Fender Custom Shop G E Smith Telecaster Blonde, 2012

The Fender Custom Shop G E Smith Telecaster is a very straight ahead instrument, using the classic early 1950’s fatter maple neck on swamp ash body, with flat-head screws, instead of Philips screws. The pickups are American Vintage models, while the bridge plate is cut back to expose the pickup cavity; the pickup itself is bolted to the body. Smith feels that this contributes to an increased ‘fatness’ in the bridge pickup tone. The inlays draw from Fender lap steels, which Smith also plays.

Paramount Style B 5 String Banjo Maple, 1922

Paramount Style B 5 String Banjo Maple, 1922

The Paramount Style B 5 string is built using Maple for the bulk of the wooden components, with a bound Brazilian Rosewood bridge and headplate. The classic, fairly complex inlay set is executed in engraved Mother of Pearl. There is natural wear and checking to the lacquer finish, and there is some damage to parts of the headstock inlays from previous re-gluing work, along with some cracks in the Brazilian Rosewood head plate – this is to be expected on an instrument nearly a century old.

‼Reduced‼ Gibson ES-5 Archtop Electric Guitar Sunburst, 1949

The Gibson ES-5 appeared in 1949 and was the first ES – Electric Spanish – guitar with three pickups.   Originally equipped only with rotary pots for volume and tone controls, this model was revised in 1955 as the ES-5 Switchmaster.     Using a full size cutaway archtop body made with maple laminates for feedback rejection, the original ES-5 had individual volume controls and one master tone control.   Depending on the pot rotation, you could have all three pickups at any blend level.

Gibson Les Paul Studio ‘Les Paul 100’ Manhattan Midnight Blue, 2015

Gibson Les Paul Studio 'Les Paul 100' Manhattan Midnight Blue, 2015

The Gibson Les Paul Studio line delivers all the core features of a Les Paul at a lower price, and this is largely achieved by reducing decoration. The body and neck are not bound, and the Maple top is a ‘B’ grade, which is a visual rating (and it should be noted that many historic ‘Gold Top’ models also used Maple of this grade). However, there’s no skimping on the hardware.
