Here we’re looking at a Guild Capri CE-100D from 1965 in overall good condition, looking like it has been used as intended over the years. Built from 1956 until 1982, the Guild Capri CE-100D was a fully hollow body archtop electric with a Florentine cutaway and a pair of pickups. The CE-100D was the Double pickup version of the single-pickup CE-100; at first, Franz pickups were used, then DeArmond, and in 1963 Guild’s new Anti-Hum pickups were fitted.
Mahogany
Here we have a very nice Gibson LP ’59 Reissue sporting a Lemonburst figured Maple top, built during 2013 at Gibson Nashville. The now-classic cherry sunburst or shaded Les Paul top first appeared in late May of 1958; previously, the two available finishes were a Gold Top for the basic model and Black for the Custom.

MORE →The Martin D-45 has been the top of the line in the Martin Guitar Company’s line of regular production instruments since its initial introduction in 1933, and its re-introduction in 1968.
Here’s a reissue version one of the rarest of all Gibson guitars – the Gibson Moderne, designed and registered in June 1957 but only produced in limited numbers from 1981 to 1983! This gloss black 2012 reissue version of the Gibson Moderne differs from any 1957 prototype and the 1980’s run in its use of Mahogany for the body rather than Korina, the lack of string pivots on the new V-shaped headstock, a gold Gibson decal logo rather than the cast type, and a considerably lower price.

MORE →For The Twelfth Fret’s 35th anniversary, we ordered a number of custom shop Martin OM-35 guitars, with commemorative labels signed by CF Martin III. The OM-35 itself was in production from 2003 to 2007, superseded by the OM-35E – the same guitar with a stock pickup. This example has a K&K Pure Mini passive pickup set installed.

MORE →Here is a little bit of Canadian Luthiery history – a T.D. Hibbs SM-01 Selmer or ‘Maccaferri’, Gypsy Jazz style steel string guitar, quite possibly one of Hibb’s last, apparently built in late 2009. T.D. Hibbs was a woodworker, woodworking instructor and trained musician in the Cambridge, Ontario area.
