❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES-125 Archtop Electric Guitar Sunburst, 1954

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES-125 Archtop Electric Guitar Sunburst, 1954

This Gibson ES-100 dates to 1954 and appears to be all original, though the pickguard is missing and the original case is long gone – it would have been faux-gator fibre (cardboard), and those often don’t age well. The hardware is typical of this period. For example, the Kluson Deluxe tuners have no lettering but do have the hole for the tuner post, and these were used from 1953 to mid 1956. Translucent Gold ‘Speed’ or ‘Hatbox’ type knobs are used.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson L-50 Archtop Guitar Sunburst, 1950

Built from 1932 to 1971, the Gibson L-50 was a straightforward, non-cutaway archtop guitar with few frills, and until 1935 was most often a round-hole archtop. It is built using a 16 inch wide arched Maple laminate back and arched solid Spruce top, braced with parallel tone bars and bound top and back. The neck is Mahogany with a bound Rosewood fingerboard. The headstock bears a Gibson decal and Kluson Deluxe strip tuners.

❌ SOLD ❌ Gibson ES-335 ‘Rich Robinson’ 471 of 500 Cherry, 2014

❌ SOLD ❌ Gibson ES-335 'Rich Robinson' 471 of 500 Cherry, 2014

Built at the Gibson Memphis plant, the Gibson ES-335 Rich Robinson is very much like a ‘new’ 1963 model. The ‘Custom Made’ plaque on the body was frequently used to cover stop-tailpiece collars when a Bigsby was installed, either at the factory or after purchase. The cherry finish very common in that era, and the metal parts have gone through a ‘VOS’ aging process to simulate natural oxidization.

❌SOLD❌ Sorenson Companion Custom 5-String Banjo Maple, 2017

❌SOLD❌ Sorenson Companion Custom 5-String Banjo Maple, 2017

For this 2017 Sorenson Companion custom banjo, the original order specified that the logo on the headstock read ‘Sorenson’ rather than ‘Companion’.    It also has a Maple block rim and wooden tone ring, so it is considerably lighter than many banjos at 9 pounds – that’s comparable to many Les Pauls and Stratocasters.

❌ SOLD ❌ Epiphone Elitist Les Paul Standard Sunburst, 2004

❌ SOLD ❌ Epiphone Elitist Les Paul Standard Sunburst, 2004

The Epiphone Elitist Les Paul Standard was built from 2003 to 2009, though there were earlier models under the ‘Epiphone Elite’ name. However, it turned out that Ovation was already using the ‘Elite’ name. These guitars were built by Fuju-Gen at Matsumoto, Japan for Gibson, as the high end of the Epiphone line. They use US made hardware and top quality woods. The fit and finish are top quality.

❌ SOLD ❌ Gibson SG SR VOS 1961 Les Paul Custom Shop Cherry, 2006

❌ SOLD ❌ Gibson SG SR VOS 1961 Les Paul Custom Shop Cherry, 2006

Here’s a wonderful piece that takes us all back. This is a Gibson SG SR VOS 1961, a reissue of the reworked 1961 Les Paul Standard with Lyre Vibrola and Cherry finish. This was the second version of the SG build – the initial production run had a side-to-side vibrola tailpiece. That was quickly replaced with the Maestro Lyre Vibrola, and this form was the SG Standard until the mid 1960’s. By 1963, the Les Paul name was removed for contractual reasons.
