❌SOLD❌ Gibson CS336 Compact Thinline Archtop Electric Burgundy, 2001

❌SOLD❌ Gibson CS336 Compact Thinline Archtop Electric Burgundy, 2001

While it has strong visual similarities to the popular ES-339, the Gibson CS336 compact thinline has significant differences in construction. Instead of using separate materials for the top, back and sides, the CS336 has back and sides carved from a single block of mahogany with a carved, book matched Flame maple top. The Gibson CS-336 came out of the Custom Shop in 2001, five years after the 1996 introduction of the ES-339.

Eastman Romeo SC Thinline Archtop Electric, Red Burst

Eastman Romeo SC Thinline Archtop Electric, Red Burst

The Eastman Romeo SC is a new limited edition thinline and largely hollow archtop electric design by Otto D’Ambrosio at the Eastman Custom Shop in California. Intended as an imagining of what ‘The Telecaster of the Archtop World’ would be, the Romeo started with defining its balance and player’s hand positions. The body is fairly small at 14.75 inches across, and the ‘Single Cut’ design gives plenty of access to the fretboard.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson CS336 Thinline Compact Archtop Faded Cherry, 2004

❌SOLD❌ Gibson CS336 Thinline Compact Archtop Faded Cherry, 2004

Introduced in late 2001 and built until 2010, the Gibson CS336 is based on a scaled-down ES-335, but there are some significant differences. The body blends a carved, two piece solid Maple top with a solid piece of Mahogany, shaped and routed to provide the inner resonant chambers and the solid center block. In the ES-335 design, the top, sides and back are built traditionally using Maple laminate, with a solid Maple center block added. On this model, the bound fingerboard is Indian Rosewood with dot position markers.

As the name suggests, Jens Kruger was closely involved in the design of this banjo, in particular the tone ring which emulates prized pre-war Gibson models.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Memphis ES330 VOS Sunburst, 2013

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Memphis ES330 VOS Sunburst, 2013

The Gibson Memphis ES330 VOS model is now discontinued, along with the Memphis plant, but is a great re-creation of a late 1950’s ES-330. Introduced in 1959, the ES-330 took visual cues from the new and very successful ES-335, but is uses a fully hollow body without a solid center block. A pair of under-wound P-90s provide great tone. Until about 1963, the ES330 and its cousin the Epiphone Casino set the neck joint at the 16th fret but subsequently the joint was shifted to the 19th fret, allowing easier access to higher frets.
