❌SOLD❌ La Esperanza Classe 1000 Concert Classical Guitar, 1979

Instrument Categories: , ,

Here we have a nicely kept La Esperanza Classe 1000 classical guitar built during 1979 in the shop of Masaru Matano or his successors in Kurume, Japan.

Matano’s shop built the La Esperanza Classe 1000 and lower priced Classe 600 for sale for the company name “Ongaku Geijutsusha Co” and these models were based on Ramirez instruments. The Classe 1000 features a Red Cedar top and double layer Rosewood sides and back, which is not quite the same as laminated. Here, the two layers are of Brazilian Rosewood and are used to reduce overtones and ‘wolf’ tones when the guitar is played loudly.    The bridge is solid Brazilian Rosewood and the fingerboard is ‘ebonized’ Rosewood.   The body blocks  and neck are Mahogany,  with  Dovetail type joint used.  Tuners are gold coloured models with faux-Pearl buttons.

This La Esperanza Classe 1000 is in overall  good clean condition with light , expected wear to the light, orange tinted lacquer finish.   At writing this very nice guitar  is 42 years old, with light finish scuffing and a few small marks, mostly from string changes.   It has a full voice, somewhat dark, and good volume and projection.

A hard shell case is included.

As an indication of the quality level of the La Esperanza 1000, it originally sold new from the mid 1970s to 1980, for 100,000 yen. During that period, the yearly salary of a recent Japanese college graduate was somewhat less than that.
