Here’s something quite unusual – a 1976 Fender Starcaster Sunburst. The Starcaster was introduced around 1974-1975 and was produced until 1980 or 1982. While it’s a good design, and well built, it was never commercially successful; there’s apparently a perception that Fender makes solidbody guitars, and semi-hollows come from other makers like Gibson.

As the last of the legendary John D’Angelico’s apprentices, James ‘Jimmy’ D’Aquisto produced some of the best, most sought after – and most expensive – archtop guitars ever made. In a 1994 agreement with Fender, Fender built D’Aquisto Elite archtops at their Terada plant in Japan. These guitars were re-issued between 1989 and 1994. This 1989 Black Fender DAquisto Elite Archtop is in pristine condition, and the black finish is quite rare.

This 1989 Fender DAquisto Elite Archtop sports a natural finish,which really shows off the flame maple laminate used on the back and sides. It’s in excellent condition with very minor wear. They feature maple laminate back and sides, solid spruce tops, a maple neck with ebony fingerboard and ebony fittings; and one humbucking pickup at the neck, with the metal parts gold plated.
