Here’s an all original 1965 Vox AC10 2×10 Combo Amplifier. Vox was the pre-eminent musical instrument amplifier manufacturer in the UK and much of Europe in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, and produced most of the amps used by the most popular bands at the time. If you’ve heard an early 1960’s pop or rock record from the UK – you’ve heard Vox amplifiers.

It’s great to see Gibson mandolins again, as few and far between as they are. This Gibson F-5L Fern mandolin has the ‘L’ designation, for Lloyd Loar; the F-5L model was introduced in 1978 as a return to the specifications Lloyd Loar used on his original F-5 Master Model instruments between 1922 and 1924.

Marc Beneteau has been building instruments in Ontario since at least 1974, and in that time has produced many archtop, steel string and classical guitars, plus a few other instruments like dulcimers and ukuleles. This 1983 Marc Beneteau Classical Cutaway demonstrates Marc’s skill and the quality of his workmanship. The tone is rich and full, with warm highs and deep lows.

Today we’re looking at a near perfect 2004 Collings OM1 Guitar. The Orchestra Model, based on the OOO body style, was originally built by Martin for Perry Bechtel to accomodate the first 14-fret necks. The object was to help sell guitars to plectrum banjo players, who were used to the longer necks. This example of the OM1 has been very carefully kept and well maintained.

Here is a pristine 2013 Collings D2H-A Dreadnought. The -A designation means that this is a D2H – Dreadnought body size with 2 level decoration and Herringbone binding – with an Adirondack spruce top.
As with all Collings instruments, the build quality is stunningly good and the tone is even better. Collings dreadnoughts produce all the volume, presence, bottom end and mids you’d expect and have full sparkling highs.

I have to say that this instrument caught my eye very quickly – long ago, I spent years slaving over one of these on small stages. This 1974 Black Fender Telecaster Custom really brought back some memories, and my ears are still ringing!
