Taylor AB-2 Acoustic Bass Imbuia, 2000 ❌SOLD❌

Taylor AB-2 Acoustic Bass Imbuia, 2000 ❌SOLD❌

Here we have a Taylor AB-2 Acoustic Bass, designed by Steve Klein and Bob Taylor with a single cutaway, Manzer Wedge style Imbuia body. The Wedge reduces the body depth on the bass side from six inches to 4.375 inches, and this has two primary effects. First, it’s easier and less fatiguing for the player’s arm. Second, the wedge has the effect of increasing the sonic output towards the player.  Linda Manzer  introduced the wedge feature on the 1984, 42-string ‘Pikasso’  guitar for Pat Metheney, and subsequently described it in a 1989 presentation to the Association of Stringed Instrument Artisans.

❌SOLD❌Gibson Les Paul Classic Bullion Gold, 1990

Here is a bit of a rarity – a Gibson Les Paul Classic Bullion Gold finish. This model isn’t just a Gold Top – the entire guitar is gold!   This example was built during 1990, and while this finish was available for perhaps three years, it was not common. It is definitely classy and eye-catching!  The Gibson Les Paul Classic Bullion Gold is built like other carved-top Les Pauls, with a bound Maple cap on a Mahogany body, paired with a Mahogany neck and bound Indian Rosewood fingerboard.

❌SOLD❌ Godin ACS SA Grand Concert Duet Classical Electric, Natural

The Godin ACS SA Grand Concert Duet Classical Electric is a descendant of the Gibson Chet Atkins CEC – Cutaway Electric Classical.   While Gibson eventually dropped the design,  Godin picked it up and with some practical changes such as a bolt-on neck and a mix of piezo and synthesizer pickups have turned it into a very popular instrument used by performers worldwide.

❌SOLD❌ Fender Telecaster Blonde, 1972

❌SOLD❌ Fender Telecaster Blonde, 1972

This Fender Telecaster Blonde is built during 1972 in Fullerton, California, is in good working order and with all original parts and case. For many years, this guitar had the ‘ashtray’ bridge cover in place, and much of the original, lighter blonde colour tone is visible where the cover extended past the bridge. The rest of the finish has naturally yellowed to a very nice butterscotch tone.

❌SOLD❌ Fender 57 Reissue Precision Bass Sunburst, 1982

❌SOLD❌ Fender 57 Reissue Precision Bass Sunburst, 1982

Here we have a Fender 57 Reissue Precision Bass, in two-tone sunburst and built during 1982 in Fullerton, California, during the period of CBS ownership. This bass reproduces the second major evolutionary step of the P-Bass towards its current form. Initially, the Precision Bass used a slab body and single-coil pickup. To keep pace with the ‘New for 1954’ Stratocaster, in that year the Precision Bass also received body contours. This lasted until 1957, when the new hum-cancelling split pickup was introduced.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson LG3 Steel String Guitar Natural, 1949

❌SOLD❌ Gibson LG3 Steel String Guitar Natural, 1949

The Gibson LG3 was built from late 1942 to 1963 as an entry level model, but its production was suspended months after its launch due to WW2.  It was introduced with the LG1 and LG2, but from 1943 to 1945, only the sunburst LG2 stayed in production.  All three models were similar in appearance, but the LG1 and LG2 were ladder braced while the LG3 had what’s now the standard X bracing. In 1963, the LG3 was replaced by the B25-N (for Natural Finish Top).
