This 1987 David Wren Maple 12 String Guitar draws some visual influences from the classic Guild jumbo 12’s, though the modified body shape produces a tigher, more focused and less boomy sound while retaining much of the raw power of the Guild. Carlos Santana has had a long relationship with Paul Reed Smith guitars, to the point where there are a number of PRS Santana models. In 2008, the PRS Santana MD was released – the MD standing for ‘multi dimensional’. The key difference is in the wiring – there’s an extra switch that enables the ‘Multidimensional Voice Control’ circuit, allowing a range of new tones.
