MORE →I guess you would just have to play Prince’s Purple Rain on this cool stack! This limited edition 1959 purple Marshall head from the 90’s has seen some wear and tear but has that great crunchy tone. The leather on the handle is worn away at the bottom, the back panel is missing some screws and it now has a Kendrick made turret board. The accompanying 412 cabinet also features a purple tolex and the original 1968 Celestion speakers. The grille cloth and name plate has been changed and one of the speakers is missing its plastic cap. Pairing these two purple power houses together provides a tone to die for!!
MORE →This is a very nice 6120. It’s a great looker with the flamed maple top and the finish is in good shape.
MORE →There has been some discussion on the hardware used on this banjo. The RB-250 did not come factory in gold but that said, in 1962 Gibson would fill virtually any custom request. The hardware shows none of the pitting typical of re-plated hardware. Also the cost to upgrade after the banjo was built would have been huge so we are going on the theory that this was a custom order. Tailpiece: I found several of these gold-plated tailpieces in the boxes of 1960s Gibson hardware I acquired when Gibson Canada shut down in 1979. So I am assuming they were stock Gibson issue for at least a few of their gold plated banjos, though I’ve never seen any. I gather they were made by Elton but am happy for input from anybody out there who knows more.
MORE →With a tone designed to be more mellow and jazzier than the Strat the Jazzmaster wasn’t really embraced by jazz players. It is more commonly associated with surf rock bands like The Ventures and The Fireballs and later experimental rock bands such as Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine. This particular example has been stripped of its finish and has newer tuners but is in great overall shape and has a really cool vibe. Comes with original brown hardshell case.
