From time to time, I am forced to “house clean” when I run short on storage space. Since I can’t resist buying any vintage instruments things eventually reach the breaking point where I have to ‘thin the herd’.

These ‘project instruments’ are put on a shelf with the best of intentions…but many cups of espresso later I come to the realization that I would rather be out on my motorcycle and many of these projects will simply never be looked at.

Here’s an almost perfect 2011 Gibson Hummingbird True Vintage. Gibson introduced the Hummingbird in 1960 and it was their first square-shouldered dreadnought body guitar; to this point, Gibson was known for slope-shouldered dreadnoughts like the J-45.

Here’s a cool 1977 Gibson Les Paul Custom Cherry Burst. The Les Paul Custom was introduced in 1954, as a dressed-up version of the ‘new’ Les Paul model (introduced in 1952). Originally, it featured a black finish (with a mahogany top rather than maple) and with very low frets.

Here’s a pristine and unusual instrument – a 2013 National M1 Tricone Cutaway. This cutawy version of the M1 doesn’t even appear on the National site! This lightly-used fine example is in nearly new condition, and appears to have been hardly played at all.

2010 Collings D-41G SOLD

2010 Collings D-41G  SOLD

Based on the Collings D3 model, this D41G is in very good condition and features a German Spruce top (this is the G in the model number), Indian Rosewood back and sides and abalone trim on the top.

Collings guitars are exceptionally well built and great sounding and this guitar has a wonderfully full, rich tone with undeniable presence.

Here’s a lovely 1976 Guild Capri CE-100D Blonde Archtop. Guild introduced the CE-100 in 1956 and it was built till 1983. A new version is now available from Guild.

This guitar is in great shape and is very comfortable to play.
